Helping Hudson: A Wheely Great Cause fundraiser.

Can you help out with the Helping Hudson Fundraiser?

There are a fab bunch of stampers in blogland trying to raise much needed funds by selling bundles of craft tutorials to help this wonderful little boy obtain some mobility.

What is "Helping Hudson?"
They are a group of stampers who are raising funds for a little boy named Hudson. A KidWalker will help him learn to walk, and take another step toward more independence.

So what can you expect from the fundraiser?

We have bundles of tutorials for sale. Each bundle has 10 tutorials and is priced at $10. If you buy 4 or more bundles you will also receive a bonus bundle of 10 more tutorials. I'm sure you'll agree that they represent fantastic value!

We are also running a whole range of challenges over the 3 weeks the blog will be live. There are 3 major challenges a week that will include colour challenges, sketch challenges and technique challenges. The winners of these challenges will each receive a parcel of Stampin' Up! products worth over $60 that may include punches, stamp sets, card stock, ribbon, inkpads and much, much more!

We will also be running a smaller daily giveaway for the 3 weeks. All you'll need to do is answer a very simple question and you could win a small prize. These prizes include ribbon, ink pads and rub ons.

You will also be able to make a donation towards the fundraiser. We are hoping to raise the $5000 we need to buy Hudson his Kid Walker. You can read all about it on the blog.

So please come and check out the blog today, 1st August. It's at HELPING HUDSON

We can't wait to see you there to join in the fun. Please help us to reach our target by forwarding this email to anyone you know who may be interested.

Thanks again,
Tina Gillespie (Hudsons Mum)
On behalf of the Helping Hudson Team

HUDSON'S STORY

At around 12 weeks of age, we discovered that Hudson was legally blind. He has a condition called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia with Nystagmus. This is a damaged optic nerve, which means his brain finds it difficult to interpret what he sees.

By 6 months it was apparent he was physically delayed. Hudson started Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy before his 1st birthday, to strengthen his muscles. At this point in time he was found to have muscle tone issues. It took over a year for Hudson to be able to sit up on his own, and he was 20 months old before he started crawling.

Hudson’s development progressed slowly but surely, until January 2010, when he had his first seizure. He had to be put on a ventilator to stop the seizure, and spent 3 days in hospital recovering. Hudson continues to have partial complex seizures, and is now considered to have epilepsy.

Hudson was recently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. This means that the part of his brain that controls movement and muscles is damaged. He will require ongoing extensive physiotherapy to manage his CP.

Thank you for taking the time to read this extra long post, I hope you will be able to join us in trying to help little Hudson,

NEW! SPELLBINDERS GRAND NESTABILITIES DIES & GRAND CALIBUR MACHINE

Hi Everyone,
Hot Spellbinders news from CHA!
Along with all the fabulous new dies coming out from Spellbinders, they are also releasing a new range of Grand Nestabilities dies in BIGGER sizes that you can even use for making mini albums or use on your scrapbook layouts together with their new Grand Calibur Machine that can cut an 8 1/2" x 11" paper without trimming!

Here is an excerpt from the latest Spellbinder's Blog Post on their newest products.
"Grand Calibur, A Closer Look!
Posted: 31 Jul 2010 06:04 AM PDT
Spellbinders have a brand new Spellbinders™ Grand Calibur™ die cutting machine and Grand Nestabilities®!  I’m so excited to share it with you!  Lets take a closer look at this fabulous new die cutting machine!
The Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine comes with all the plates you need to cut and emboss low profile dies, including Spellbinders, Quickutz, Sizzlet, Cuttlebug, etc.  It will not accomodate the original size Sizzix dies. The outer housing is plastic, so it is light weight, about 7.5 pounds. It has a built in handle to make it easy to carry.  The Grand Calibur has steel gears inside, for the durability and quality you expect from Spellbinders.
The white lever on the front is for the stability base.  Flipping it to the right keeps the machine securely attached to the table with suction.
The mats are 8¼ x 11¾”, and the opening on the machine is 8½” wide.  You can die cut with 8½ x 11″ paper without trimming it!
The mats are large enough to cut several die templates at once!  I can cut all of S4-161 Labels One with room to spare!
Did you notice the SKU numbers?  They are the same suffix, so you can match up your sets.  For example, Grand Nestabilities LF-110 Grand Classic Ovals is the set that coordinates with Nestabilities S4-110 Classic Ovals LG.
When you combine the sets, you maintain the ½” difference between die templates, allowing you to make ¼” mats all the way up to the largest size die template.
Sandwiches are easy!  Use the A Base Plate for all sandwiches, positioned at the bottom of the sandwich. Place the die templates with the cut ridge up, then the paper, and then the C Cutting Plate.  The plates are colored so you can tell the difference between them too!
The embossing sandwich starts with the A Base Plate, die template with cutting side up, paper, Tan Embossing Pad, then the pink B Embossing Plate.
This is the best part: just slide the sandwich into the opening at the front of the machine.  Turn the handle and the sandwich feeds through.  It’s a smooth and easy motion.
No, wait, this is the best part: the sandwich exits the machine at the back, and it comes out smoothly, gently and quietly.
I know a picture is worth a thousand words, but in some cases a video is better!  Until our video is ready, you can watch this one Grand Calibur on Stamp TV,  courtesy of Gina K Designs (below) and starring our very own Holly Simoni!
The machines are in production, and we expect to be shipping in September!"
